This is a large, active coastal-pelagic shark common in oceanic areas close to the continental shelf break, shallow bays, coastal reefs, surf beaches, tidal inlets, and lower reaches of large rivers. Its diet includes a wide variety of benthic and pelagic cephalopods and fishes. Juveniles are reported to feed on jellyfishes and benthic crustaceans as well as small bony fishes.
